Our Guidance officer works directly with students in addition to working with teachers, school support personnel, family, other specialists or external support providers.
Support offered by the guidance officer includes providing advice and supports in relation to educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family, and mental health and wellbeing issues.
Career development, performing a range of assessments to better understand student abilities, and working collaboratively to develop strategies to meet individual needs, also form an important part of the work that our guidance officer undertakes to enhance positive educational outcomes, optimise wellbeing and ensure career pathways for all students.
Guidance officers provide leadership, support and case management in responding to some of the most complex and challenging of circumstances including student protection matters, critical incidents, mental health issues, and suicide prevention and postvention support.
Our Guidance Officer can also assist our families with accessing broader community support networks and services including Family and Child Connect, Intensive Family Support services, and a range of Community services designed to assist with issues such as parenting, financial hardship or practical help when it is needed.
Our Guidance Officer can also assist students with accessing additional supports here at school, including referral to a range of programs, designed to meet their wellbeing needs.
Our Guidance Officer is committed to HELPING.
