Our Special Education Program is founded on the belief that all students can learn, grow and achieve success when provided with the right support, high expectations and inclusive opportunities. We work collaboratively with students, families, teachers and support agencies to ensure every learner achieves meaningful outcomes and becomes an active, valued member of our school community.
Our Aim
Our aim is to provide every student with meaningful and individualised learning opportunities that develop academic, social, emotional well-being and life skills. Through inclusive practices, personalised pathways and authentic learning experiences, we support students to become independent learners, active citizens and confident young adults prepared for life beyond school.
Special Education Program (SEP)
The SEP provides individualised and intensive learning support for students with disability and diverse learning needs. Through personalised pathways, targeted teaching and specialised programs, students access curriculum, community experiences and practical learning that promote belonging and preparation for life beyond school.
Junior Functional English
Functional English develops literacy and communication skills through practical, real-world learning experiences that strengthen reading, writing, speaking and listening in alignment with the Australian Curriculum.
QCIA and Senior Pathways English
QCIA and Senior English focuses on practical literacy, communication and real-world learning aligned to individual QCIA goals and future pathways.
Junior Functional Mathematics
Functional Mathematics develops practical numeracy skills through authentic learning experiences aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Students explore key mathematical concepts including number and algebra, measurement, space, statistics and probability, learning how mathematics is used to solve everyday problems and make informed decisions. Through activities involving money, time, measurement, data and chance, students develop confidence in applying mathematics in meaningful real-world contexts.
Learning is personalised to individual needs and emphasises problem-solving, reasoning and communicating mathematical ideas. Students are encouraged to make connections between mathematics and everyday life, building the skills they need to participate confidently at school, at home and in their community.
Senior Functional Mathematics
Senior Functional Mathematics supports students to progress from limited understandings to more extended mathematical concepts. Students apply mathematics to budgeting, measurement, digital technologies and real-world problem-solving.
Life Skills Program
The Life Skills Program develops practical skills for everyday living, including cooking, health, hygiene, relationships, safety and recreation. Learning includes camps, community access, work experience and post-school planning.
Living and Leisure
Living and Leisure promotes healthy lifestyles, personal wellbeing and community participation through HPE, gym, health and hygiene, personal development and relationships education. It includes Sex Education concepts and topics.
GAAP – Growing and Achieving Alternative Pathways
GAAP is an award-winning alternative program combining work experience, construction, social and emotional learning, rural community projects and cultural development.
Driver Education
Driver Education supports students to become safe and responsible road users through road safety education, supervised practice and access to licensing pathways.
WAR – Warriors Against Rubbish
WAR is a student-led sustainability program combining recycling, environmental stewardship and the school garden while developing independent routines and work skills.
Work Experience Programs
Work Experience Programs develop work ethic and workplace skills through authentic experiences with local businesses, community organisations and external providers.
Mainstream Learning Opportunities
Students participate in mainstream subjects such as Senior Recreation, Hospitality, Art, Construction, HPE and Engineering, developing goal setting, teamwork, budgeting and practical life
Cultural awareness
We are committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environments where multiculturalism is celebrated. We aim that students feel valued, connected and supported to achieve success. through strong partnerships with families and community, personalised learning pathways and opportunities to celebrate culture and identity, we empower students to build confidence, develop their strengths as proud, active members of their communities.
