Science in Practice Water Quality Excursion

On a beautiful winter’s day the class set out to collect water samples right along the Burnett River from Wallaville to Burnett Heads. ng Students were linking the water quality from 7 samples to the health of the river. The group was enthusiastic as always and had a wonderful day getting out and applying real science techniques to actual natural environments. We must thank Mrs Frohloff who guided us around her lovely property and down to the water’s edge to collect our first sample of the day, and Mrs Findlay who once again drove the bus throughout the day. Students learned much about assessing the local environment and we have some great discussions regarding how to improve and track changes in water quality in a local water source. Student engagement and behaviour was wonderful as usual and they were a pleasure to take outside the school and into the community.
