Athletics Carnival

23/06/2017
On Friday 23rd June 2017, Gin Gin SHS will conduct their annual Athletics Carnival at the Gin Gin Athletics Club. This will result in the following changes to the normal school routine:
  • All morning buses will collect your son/daughter as per usual and transport them directly to the Athletics Club grounds. In the afternoon, all buses will collect your son/daughter from the Athletics Club grounds and return them to their normal drop off location. Normal drop off times in the afternoon may alter slightly.
  • Any students who are transported to and from school by private vehicle, ride bicycles or walk to school MUST go directly to the Athletics Club grounds. There will be no shuttle bus running from the school to the Athletics Club grounds on the day.
  • It is expected that all students will wear a hat and sun safe clothing (shirt with sleeves and preferably a collar) for the duration of the day.
  • Canteen facilities will be available throughout the morning however it is advised that all students take their own water bottles to remain hydrated.
The Athletics Carnival is a regular school day in which all students are expected to attend. The 2017 Swimming Carnival and the 2017 Cross Country have been decided by very small margins between all three teams, so every point gained will be vital.

Triple Jump & High Jump

In order to fit as many events as possible into the day, it is necessary to run the Triple Jump event and High Jump event as a pre-event. Therefore, on Tuesday 20th June the following arrangements have been made for all students who have nominated to represent their respective houses in the first division for Triple Jump and High Jump. This will result in the following changes to the normal school routine:
  • A school bus will collect your son/daughter from the school at 9:00am following assembly and transport them directly to the Gin Gin Athletics Club grounds where they will compete in the Triple Jump and/or High Jump for their houses. At the completion of the event (approximately 1:00pm), a school bus will collect your son/daughter from the Athletics Club grounds and return them back to school. There is no charge for the bus service. There is no cost to the student participating.
  • It is expected that all students will wear a hat and sun safe clothing (shirt with sleeves and preferably a collar) for the duration of the morning. All students are required to wear their day uniform to and from the athletics club grounds.
  • Students are advised to take their own water bottles to the athletics ground, although they will be returned to the school in time for recess.
